Yoga Shala. a local Charlotte group, is hosting free classes early mornings each day of the DNC. Currently, Yoga Shala, is in a transition period, and trying to find a home for their studio. You can find all the instructors each morning from 7am – 8am in Midtown Park, on the Sugar Creek Greenway, leading classes.

This class will be held outside every day. You will need to bring: yourself, yoga mat, towel, and water. All ages welcome. These classes are open to the public, no tickets required.

You can walk, run, bike or drive to the Greenway. If you are driving it is suggest to park in the vacant lot at the corner of Baxter and Cherry Street.

Impact Film Festival DNC 2012

Tonight is the kick off party for the IMPACT File Festival that runs through the duration of the DNC. The event tonight is private, but you are able to reserve tickets to any of the films shown throughout the week. The Impact Arts + Film Fund was created for artists to be able to take part in the political conversation. This group is going to be showing documentaries about our current social, political, and economic issues for lawmakers, delegates and candidates at the DNC. After each documentary screening there will be panel discussions with the directors, policy makers, and experts on the film’s subject matter.

How To Survive A Plague – David France
Showing: Tuesday, Sept. 4th 10am – 12pm
Showcases the LGBT community’s fight  gain traction in the battle against HIV, while politicians, pharma companies, and major medical establishment remained indifferent.

The Invisible War – Kirby Dick and Amy Sterling
Showing: Tuesday, Sept. 4th 2pm – 4pm
The nations best kept military secret revealed through detailed accounts and investigations – widespread rape, by superior officers, within our US armed forces.

Ethel – Rory Kennedy
Showing: Wednesday, Sept. 5th 10am-12pm
A personal documentary exploring the life of Ethel Kennedy, told by those who know her best, her family.

Hunger Hits Home – Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz
Showing: Wednesday, Sept. 5th 2pm – 4pm
The Food Network’s film takes a deep dive into the causes of childhood hunger in the US, and the work to end it.

The House I Live In – Eugene Jarecki
Showing: Thursday, Sept. 6th 10am – 12pm
Shot in more than twenty states, this film shares the story of individuals across America and their War on Drugs. Taking in all aspects of the drug life, to the dealer, the police officers, and even the federal judge. 2012 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize Winner.

Butter – Jim Field Smith
Showing: Thursday, Sept. 6th 12pm – 2pm
A light-hearted comedy starring Jennifer Garner, Ty Burrell, and Olivia Wilde in a fierce competition involving love, winning, sex, and butter.
